Our establishment has been an integral part of the local community since 1883, making us one of the oldest continuously operated businesses in the area. Founded as the Bowman Furniture and Undertaking Company, we have evolved over the years, adapting to the changing needs of the families we serve while maintaining our commitment to compassionate, dignified, and affordable service.

Our rich history began with the funeral business moving to its current location at 114 East 4th Street in 1913. George and Jessie Brenner purchased the mortuary in 1938, renaming it Brenner Mortuary. In 1962, Chester Ward joined the firm, and after George Brenner's passing in 1980, Chester and his wife Juanita assumed ownership. Steve Ward, their son, became a funeral director in the mid-1980s, carrying on the family tradition. In 2000, Chester Ward passed away, leaving Steve to operate the mortuary until his untimely death in 2023. Today, Steve's son Craig Ward carries the torch as the proud operator of Brenner Mortuary.
