Message from our Founder
The founder of Caris, Norman McRae, clearly remembers the first time he saw a need for hospice care. His grandmother, the matriarch of their family, died of cancer at home without the support of hospice care. Later in life, he attended divinity school where he took a course on hospice through Hospice of Louisville (Kentucky). During this course, McRae found his life's calling. He worked in hospice for 15 years before starting Caris, using these years as valuable learning opportunities for how he could one day begin a hospice company that would provide the most excellent care possible for hospice patients and their loved ones. In 2003, McRae, his wife, Linda, a registered nurse, and their partner, National Healthcare, started Caris along with a shared passion for bringing more high-quality hospice care to those in need.
