Jason Keefer Photography is a husband-and-wife photography team based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. We specialize in wedding and portrait photography, serving the local Virginia Beach area as well as Charlottesville, Richmond, and Washington D.C. Our goal is to deliver high-quality service to clients who value the art of photography and the experiences that come with it.

Our Story

Jason Keefer, a native of Pennsylvania, began his photography career in 1992 when he enlisted in the Navy as a photographer. His extensive military service took him to various countries, where he worked as a photo lab technician, digital imagery specialist, intelligence and reconnaissance photojournalist, and combat photographer. After serving at the Office of Naval Intelligence in Washington D.C., Jason attended Syracuse University's Advanced Military Photojournalism program at Newhouse School of Communications. He then worked as a combat photographer at Combat Camera in Norfolk, VA, where he completed numerous missions.

Jason's passion for photography led him to transition into wedding and portrait photography, where he has shot hundreds of events and weddings in the VA, MD, Washington D.C. metro area, and across the United States. According to Jason, his style is all about "viewing the world's beauty in the simplest form. Truth. A person or a thing's true state is so beautiful it can sometimes only be seen with certain eyes. I identify with this beauty and do not alter its original state, revealing the true nature."

Tammy Keefer, a Korean-American, was born in Seoul, South Korea, and spent her childhood in Japan, Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Virginia Beach, Virginia. During her time in the US Army, Tammy began documenting her comrades and fell in love with photography. She has an unconventional approach, blending documentary, fine art, and lifestyle into her work. Tammy's other passions include trail running, Kundalini yoga, Muay Thai, and gardening. Her unique perspective and artistic eye bring a delicate and timeless quality to her clients' events or visions.
