Preserving Equestrian Tradition Since 1925
Founded in 1925, Tryon Riding & Hunt Club has dedicated nearly a century to preserving and promoting equestrian traditions in Tryon, North Carolina. Our organization was established by Carter P. Brown with a vision to create a symbiotic relationship between equestrian events and community development. Through annual programs like the Block House Steeplechase Races and Tryon Horse Show, we've maintained over 200 miles of riding trails while fostering regional growth. Our commitment extends beyond horsemanship - we've awarded college scholarships since 1982 and contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to local causes through equestrian events.

As a volunteer-driven nonprofit, we've maintained continuous operations since incorporation in 1960, with our community-focused initiatives now attracting over 20,000 annual participants. Our historical significance is recognized through the preservation of the original 'Tally-Ho' horse-drawn mail coach and the iconic Tryon Horse statue that greets visitors at Trade and Pacolet streets. Our membership base spans horse owners, local businesses, and community members united by a shared commitment to preserving western North Carolina's equestrian heritage.
