Mercersburg Area Pre-School

At Mercersburg Area Preschool (MAPS), we are dedicated to providing a nurturing and enriching environment for children to grow and thrive. Established in 1976, our state-licensed facility operates out of a historic two-room schoolhouse in Lemasters, Pennsylvania, and is proud to participate in CCIS.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a carefully planned environment where three, four, and five-year-old children have many opportunities to express their ideas, be creative, and enjoy a variety of experiences that go beyond what a home setting can offer. We focus on the total development of each child, nurturing their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. Our staff is qualified in early childhood development, and they relate positively to each child with empathy, warmth, and love.

Educational Program

Our educational program is designed to challenge and enhance each child's creativity in a nurturing and enriching environment. Our objectives include developing an appreciation for the world around them, learning to be responsible and self-disciplined, respecting the rights and properties of others, and preparing for kindergarten following current state standards. We achieve this through a variety of activities, including thematic units, daily activities, and annual field trips.

Join Our Family

We invite you to join our family at MAPS! Children must be at least three years old and toilet-trained by September 1st to be eligible. Space is limited, and acceptance to the preschool is based on a first-come, first-served basis. We have various program options available, including 2-day, 3-day, 5-day, and full-day programs, as well as extended hours between 6:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
