Academy Of The Holy Cross

The Academy of the Holy Cross is a private, Catholic high school located in Kensington, Maryland. We are dedicated to empowering girls to find their voices, speak their minds, stand up for their beliefs, and lead change in the world. We believe that it is time for young women to be fearless and take initiative, and we are committed to providing them with the education, support, and opportunities they need to become women of courage, compassion, and scholarship.

Empowering Girls

At the Academy of the Holy Cross, our girls thrive. We provide a supportive and inclusive environment where girls are empowered to share their ideas, grow in their faith, try something new, and lead their peers without hesitation or limitation. We offer a wide range of activities, programs, and opportunities that allow our girls to push themselves, take risks, and develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

Intellect

We are committed to academic excellence and personal growth. With small class sizes, personal faculty attention, and advanced technology integration, we work with students until they realize and achieve their full, individual potential. We offer a challenging and rigorous curriculum, including 48 AP, Honors, Dual Enrollment/Dual Credit, and Project Lead The Way courses. Our girls are encouraged to think critically, solve problems, and explore new ideas, preparing them for success in college and beyond.

Leadership

Our girls take initiative and fill influential roles all over campus. With 30 sports teams, 8 stage productions, and over 30 clubs, there are countless opportunities for our girls to develop the intelligence, confidence, and compassion to become women of action. We believe that leadership is not just about holding a position, but about making a difference, and we are committed to helping our girls become the leaders of tomorrow.

Faith and Friendship

Catholic values are at the heart of everything we do, and our school is welcoming to all. Service and social justice are integral parts of our Catholic tradition and the Holy Cross experience. We believe that faith and friendship are the foundation of a strong community, and we strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where all girls can grow and thrive.

From the performance stage to the art studio, our girls are encouraged to express themselves and tap into their creative potential. We offer a wide range of arts programs, including 8 musical, dramatic, and dance productions each year, providing our girls with countless opportunities to explore and showcase their talents.

Athletics and Teamwork

Talent, grit, and teamwork are the keys to success in our athletics program. With 28 teams and countless opportunities for competition and growth, our girls learn the value of hard work, perseverance, and collaboration. Our athletes are leaders on and off the field, and we are proud of their many accomplishments, including 60 hours in Senior Project internships working with D.C.'s top employers and $22+M in college scholarships earned by the class of 2023.
