A kind, loving, and fun learning environment.
Our Mission
At Gingerbread House Preschool, our mission is to nurture a love of learning in every child. We believe that early childhood is a crucial time for development, and we strive to create a warm, stimulating, and engaging environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Our dedicated team of teachers is committed to providing each child with individualized attention and support, helping them reach their full potential in all areas: academic, emotional, social, and physical.
Our Program
We offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to meet the developmental needs of children from 2 to 5 years old. Our program is centered around play-based learning, which allows children to learn through hands-on experiences, exploration, and interaction with their peers.
The curriculum encompasses a wide range of subjects, including:
- Language and Literacy: We foster a love of books and language through read-alouds, storytelling, poems, and interactive literacy games. We introduce pre-reading skills, phonics, and early writing concepts.
- Mathematics: Children explore mathematical concepts through hands-on activities, number games, counting, and problem-solving. We use manipulatives and real-life experiences to make math fun and engaging.
- Science: We ignite a sense of curiosity about the world through science explorations, nature walks, experiments, and discussions about the natural world.
- Art and Music: We encourage creative expression through painting, drawing, sculpting, singing, dancing, and instrument exploration. Art and music classes nurture imagination, creativity, and self-expression.
- Physical Education: We promote gross motor skills and coordination through games, outdoor play, music and movement activities, and age-appropriate physical challenges.
- Social and Emotional Development: We create a nurturing and supportive environment where children learn to interact with others respectfully, build friendships, develop empathy, and manage their emotions.
Our Teachers
Our teachers are our greatest asset. They are passionate about early childhood education and dedicated to creating a loving and stimulating learning environment for every child. We have a low student-teacher ratio (6:1 for all classes except the 2s classes, which have a 3:1 ratio), which allows our teachers to provide individualized attention to each child's needs.
All of our teachers hold at least a bachelor's degree, with many holding master's degrees. They have extensive experience working with young children and are committed to ongoing professional development. The teachers collaborate closely to plan engaging lessons, assess student progress, and provide a seamless learning experience for each child.
Our Philosophy
We believe that every child is unique and has the potential to learn and grow in amazing ways. Our approach is play-based and developmentally appropriate, meaning that we tailor our activities and curriculum to the specific needs and interests of each child.
We believe in creating a strong sense of community within our school, where children feel valued, respected, and supported. We encourage collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity. We also strive to create strong partnerships with parents, recognizing that families are an integral part of a child's learning journey.
