Designing and Redesigning Your Dreams
Drossman Jewelry is a family-owned and operated jewelry business located on the Bowery off Canal Street in the original diamond district, formerly known as the "Paramount Diamond Exchange". Our story began in 1937 when our "Papa" Eddie founded the business. After Papa Eddie's sudden passing in 1971, our "Mama" Anne took over the reins and, with the support of fellow jewelers from "the Exchange", not only maintained but also built Drossman Jewelry into a thriving marketplace. In the late 1970s, our daughter, Phyllis, and daughter-in-law, Ellen, began helping out and continued the tradition set by Mama and Papa - working closely with dedicated customers, many of whom remain with us to this day.
In the early 2000s, the Paramount Diamond Exchange, which had existed on the corner of the Bowery and Canal Street since 1935, was to be replaced by a bank. The many second-generation jewelry businesses were forced to move. Ed Drossman, grandson of Papa Eddie and his namesake, was Drossman Jewelry's resident Public Relations adviser at the time and got remarkable press about this move. Below is a photo of Ellen and Phyllis pretending to move their safe into the new space at 82 Bowery. And here are Ellen and Phyllis now, in Drossman Jewelry's new home at 82 Bowery.
