Central Packaging

Our Story

At Central Packaging, we have a rich history that dates back to the 1990s when our founders, Mike Pasley and John Swearingen, first connected at the University of Missouri. Mike majored in Economics and John studied Finance. After college, Mike worked in sales, sales management, and marketing at Scott Paper and International Paper, while John went on to earn a Master's Degree in Business Administration and joined his family's business, which made Levi's jeans for Levi Strauss & Co. Unfortunately, due to outsourcing, the family business came to an end.

In 1999, Mike and John reconnected at a University of Missouri football game (Go Tigers!) and discussed their shared goals and complementary backgrounds. Shortly after, they acquired Union Tape, a small distributor, and changed the name to reflect their goals. They then added packaging lines to the business. In 2005, they acquired Pro Pack and renamed the company Central Packaging.
