University Legal Services (ULS) is a beacon of hope and empowerment for individuals and families across the District of Columbia. As a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, we stand alongside our community, offering a diverse array of services and advocacy to promote stability, independence, and well-being.

Services Offered:

Housing Counseling & Advocacy

• HCP helps DC residents achieve and sustain homeownership, improve credit, avoid foreclosure, and navigate housing challenges.
• Tenant Purchase Assistance Program offers technical assistance and affordable housing asset management to tenants exercising their Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) rights.

Disability Advocacy

• Disability Rights DC (DRDC) champions the human, civil, and legal rights of people with disabilities through individual representation, systemic advocacy, and community outreach.

Assistive Technology Support

• DC Assistive Technology Program connects people with disabilities and seniors to needed assistive technology products and services.

Additional Programs and Services

• Jail & Prison Advocacy Project advocates for the reintegration of former inmates with mental and physical disabilities.
• Protection and Advocacy services ensure the dignity and legal rights of vulnerable individuals.
