The firm's history can be traced back to 1984 when Founding Partner, Joe Morton, began his work in estate planning as a life and health insurance agent. After completing a judicial clerkship in Utah, he taught college for two years before beginning his legal practice in the estate planning and asset protection areas in 1996. In 1999, he moved to Boise, Idaho, and became a founding member of Intermountain Legal Group.

Joe is licensed to practice law in Idaho, Oregon, Utah, and Washington and has worked on committees drafting statute proposals. He is a member of the taxation and probate and trusts section of the bar association and frequently lectures on estate planning issues for the public as well as the insurance and legal communities. His dedication to the legal profession and commitment to his clients' needs have earned him recognition as the 2010 Bill Rankin Advisor of the Year Award.
