Florida Buddhist Vihara is a non-profit religious organization fully dedicated to the practice, promotion, and dissemination of Gautama Buddha's teachings of morality, compassion, kindness, self-control, and generosity. Our purpose is to provide life guidance according to Buddhist philosophy and deliver sermons to devotees from all walks of life, whether they are beginners or well-versed in the practice of Buddhism.

Our History

Florida Buddhist Vihara was founded in 1999 and is located in Tampa, Florida. Our abbot, Bhanthe Kokkwita Wipulasara, currently resides in Sri Lanka, and we have three resident monks, Bhanthe Morathota Ananda, Bhanthe Kendagolle Amitha, and Bhanthe Wellgiriye Sirinanda, who provide guidance and deliver sermons to devotees.

Our Services

We offer a range of services and activities to help individuals advance on the path of serenity, contentment, and eternal happiness. Our services include Dhamma classes for children and adults, meditation classes, language classes on Pali and Sanskrit, and monthly pooja ceremonies. We also conduct meditation retreats and host distinguished Buddhist monks from around the world.
