Schleicher Funeral Homes & Cremation Services is a family-owned business that has been serving families of all faiths in Southeastern Minnesota since 1892. We have facilities located at 1865 South Hwy 61 in Lake City and 10 East Broadway in Plainview, Minnesota. Our dedicated team has been providing first-class funeral services for generations and is committed to serving families with the highest level of care and compassion.

Our Story

The Schleicher Funeral Home was founded in Millville, Minnesota in 1892 by August C. and Louisa Schleicher. Their son, August R. Schleicher, joined the firm in 1925 after attending the University of Minnesota School of Mortuary Science. August R. (Augie) and his wife Naomi served the area for many years, providing exceptional funeral services. In 1959, the third generation Schleicher, August J. (Augie), another University of Minnesota graduate, joined the firm and operated the funeral homes with his wife Carol and a supportive staff for 57 years. On June 20, 2017, Augie sold the funeral homes to his business partner, Michael J. and Melissa Arendt. Augie continues to help at services.

The Millville facility was destroyed by a 100 mph wind storm in 1998. Today, Schleicher Funeral Homes operates out of two state-of-the-art locations, Lake City and Plainview, Minnesota. We offer August C. Schleicher's original/restored 1894 Horse-Drawn Funeral Coach for rent at funeral services anywhere in the continental United States.
