Our journey began in 1995 when Matthew Witt, our CEO and President, relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he continued to grow as a construction professional. He worked for large commercial construction companies, but his love for woodworking remained strong. To fill this need, Matthew began taking on residential remodeling jobs on the weekends. In 2000, his client base grew so large that he decided to leave commercial construction to begin his own building business. Matthew and his wife, Irene Witt, created Witt Building Company, Inc. in the summer of 2000.

Since then, Matthew has been remodeling and building homes in Gilmer, Pickens, Fannin, and Union Counties. His dedication and hard work have earned him a loyal base of clients, and Witt Building Company's new business is 100% referral-based. Matthew is a member of the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce, Gilmer County Home Builders Association, Dedicated Ellijay Merchant's Association, and the National Home Builders Association. We carry both General Liability and Workers Compensation Insurances.

Irene Witt, our Secretary/Treasurer, received a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University and has over 22 years of corporate marketing, advertising, product, and project management experience. She has managed everything from food franchises to mobile products for some of the largest telecommunications and media companies in the world. Irene also found herself loving working with her hands. She taught herself the art of faux painting and created warmth or added life to dull spaces. As WBCI grew, it became obvious that they needed to create a division of the company that offered faux painting and mosaic tile designs, so she created Keiko's Kreations SM in 2006. Irene now works full-time in Ellijay with her husband, Matthew.
