Our Trainers

At Triple Crown Equestrian Center, we have a team of highly skilled trainers who are dedicated to helping riders achieve their goals. Our trainers offer expert instruction in cutting horse training, barrel racing, and roping, among other western disciplines.

Meet Monty Buntin, one of our premier trainers. Born in Prescott, AZ, Monty has had the pleasure of working with one of cutting's greats, Buster Welch, and honing his skills under NCHA & PCCHA Hall of Fame rider and longtime friend, Tim Smith. He has claimed many PCCHA weekend year-end titles, made the finals at all the NCHA majors, and continues to be one of the top Open riders in NCHA from the west coast. Monty was inducted into the NCHA Hall of Fame in 2020 after crossing over the Million Dollar mark in March of 2019. He is currently working on his 3rd million.

Monty has taken a short break from shows to enjoy being with his family, Tessa, his wife and business partner, and his son Riggs, who loves to do all things Dad does. He calls the Triple Crown Equestrian Center in Lincoln, CA home, where he caters to all levels of cutting from beginner lessons for Amateurs to weekend haulers and aged events. He has recently teamed back up with his longtime friend, Tim Smith.
