A History of the Hair Removal Options Offered

Electrolysis was first invented in 1875 by Dr. Charles Michel, an ophthalmologist. It was initially used to remove an ingrown eyelash using a needle and galvanic current. Over time, the techniques and equipment have evolved to provide an effective method of permanent hair removal. Electrolysis involves treating each hair and follicle individually to destroy the hair papilla, resulting in a decrease in hair density over time.

IPL, on the other hand, was invented in 1991 by Dr. Shimon Eckhous and his colleague, Dr. Michael Kreindel. IPL uses intense pulsed light to heat the follicle to a level of 70 degrees Centigrade, making it possible to treat an area rather than each individual hair. This method is faster than electrolysis and typically requires 4 to 10 treatments to clear an area.

We offer a free consultation, which includes information about both electrolysis and IPL. During the consultation, we explain the processes, answer any questions you may have, provide a brochure, and may even perform a patch test using IPL. We recommend refraining from caffeine usage on the day of the appointment as it can increase the sensation of pain.
