Busch's Kennel

Celebrating over 48 years of pet care, Busch's Kennel is the premier dog and cat boarding facility in Cape Girardeau County. Our story began in 1972 when William and Cecile Busch started the kennel for their own show dogs. Over the years, we've expanded and evolved to become a renowned facility, offering a home-like atmosphere for your pets. Chris and Stacy Busch-Heisserer took over in 2019, bringing their passion for pet care and extensive experience in the industry.

Our History

The Buschs were actively involved in the dog show world, showing dogs all over the country, including the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show. They were also longtime officers in the local Southeast Missouri Kennel Club and members of the National Beagle Club. Today, we continue to build on this legacy, ensuring that every pet that enters our facility receives the highest level of care and attention.

Services Offered

At Busch's Kennel, we offer a range of services tailored to meet the needs of both dogs and cats. Our facilities provide individual indoor/outdoor runs for dogs, centrally heated and air-conditioned buildings, and cozy indoor pens equipped with water bowls and elevated platform beds. For cats, we offer comfortable, secure, and spacious indoor enclosures. We also provide a variety of amenities, including pet CPR and first aid services, transportation to and from Deer Creek Doggie Day Camp, and access to our holistic pet supply store, Busch Pet Products.

Dog Requirements

To ensure the safety of your pet and others, we require the following vaccinations: DHLPP (canine) - current within one year, Rabies - current within 1 year (3 year shot accepted), and Bordetella (kennel cough) - current within 1 year. We also ask that you provide a copy of your shot records from your veterinarian for our files. Please note that we exclusively feed NutriSource Dog and Cat food, mixed with a warm meat broth, unless your pet is on a special or restricted diet.

Boarding Fees

Our boarding fees vary based on the size of your dog. Small dogs (up to 35 lbs) are $23/night, medium dogs (35-70 lbs) are $24/night, and large dogs (71+ lbs) are $25/night. For two small dogs together, the fee is $42/night. We also offer a late pick-up fee for every 15 minutes after closing, starting at $25 per pet.

Special Services

We offer a range of special services, including transportation to Deer Creek Doggie Day Camp, pet CPR and first aid services, and access to our holistic pet supply store. If your dog is a Deer Creek Camper, we can provide a Stay & Play option that allows them to still have play days at Camp while you are out of town.
