Northern Berkshire Healthcare (NBH) was a pioneering healthcare provider in North Adams, Massachusetts, with a rich history spanning over three decades. Established in 1984 as Northern Berkshire Health Systems (NBHS), the organization evolved to become a comprehensive healthcare system, dedicated to providing exceptional care to the communities it served.

Our Services

NBH's services were designed to cater to the diverse needs of the Northern Berkshire community. Our array of services included 24-hour emergency care, skilled home nursing through the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, and a continuum of care from acute to sub-acute settings. Our facilities included North Adams Regional Hospital, offering comprehensive medical services, as well as our Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, providing exceptional nursing care in patients' homes and hospice services.

Our History

NBH's history dates back to 1885 when the North Adams Regional Hospital was founded. Over the years, we expanded our services to include the Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice of Northern Berkshire, REACH for Community Health, and Sweet Brook Care Centers. In 2005, our parent corporation, Northern Berkshire Healthcare, was formed, bringing together these various healthcare entities under one umbrella.

Despite our closure in 2014, NBH leaves behind a lasting legacy. Our past achievements and milestones have shaped the healthcare landscape in Northern Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
