The Country School

The Country School is a private day school located in Madison, Connecticut. Established over 67 years ago, the school has built a reputation for providing personalized instruction that equips children for their future educational journey. Our mission is to create a nurturing environment that honors our students' creativity, sense of wonder, and intellectual curiosity. We achieve this through a dynamic community where learning comes alive each day through hands-on exploration and discovery.

Our mission is to provide a challenging yet supportive environment that fosters academic, social, emotional, physical, creative, and moral growth. At the heart of our mission is the belief that a well-rounded education extends beyond the classroom. As such, we offer abundant opportunities for students to explore their passions and discover new ones, including summer fun and learning programs.

Academics

Our academic program emphasizes the traditional disciplines, challenging our students with a foundation of rigorous academics. We believe that education should be an active and hands-on experience, which is why we incorporate experiential learning into our curriculum. We offer a range of signature programs such as Elmore Leadership, Global Citizenship, IDEA at Country School, Witness Stones, Public Speaking, Outdoor Education, STEAM, and Social-Emotional Learning.

Our faculty members hold advanced degrees, and our student-faculty ratio is 7:1, ensuring that every student receives individualized attention and support. We offer a range of grades from PreS-PreK to Middle School, with each grade level designed to meet the unique needs and developmental milestones of our students.

Arts

At The Country School, we recognize the importance of the arts as a universal language that transcends disciplines, cultures, and history. The arts are a critical element of our STEAM program, providing the catalyst for student learning, problem-solving, and expression. Our Visual Arts, Performing Arts, and Cultural Arts programs allow students to showcase their creativity and develop their talents in a supportive environment.

Athletics

Our athletic program seeks to bring out the best in all students as they represent The Country School with pride and good sportsmanship. We offer a range of interscholastic sports for grades 5-8, with a focus on promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Our state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated coaching staff provide students with the tools and support they need to excel in their chosen sport.

Community

At The Country School, we understand that a rich and challenging program extends beyond the classroom. As such, we offer a range of community programs and events that bring students, families, and alumni together. Our summer fun and learning programs, parent calendar, and alumni events provide opportunities for students to connect with their peers and build lasting memories.
