Community Dental Center

At the Waterville Community Dental Center, we have been providing oral health care to the residents of central Maine since the year 2000. We believe that every individual deserves access to affordable, high-quality, and comfortable oral health care, regardless of their financial situation. Our goal is to help our patients achieve and maintain a healthy smile for a lifetime.

Our History

Access to regular oral health care has long been a problem in our community. Poor oral health is linked to chronic medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, stroke, and pregnancy complications. In response to this issue, the Kennebec Valley Dental Coalition, a volunteer group of dental providers, medical providers, and community members, was formed in 1999. The Waterville Community Dental Center is the result of the hard work and dedication of the KVDC.

• 2000: The KVDC raises funds to build the Waterville Community Dental Center (WCDC) at 93 Main Street in downtown Waterville.
• 2000-2007: With one dentist and two hygienists, the WCDC delivers oral health services to the community and sees over 2,000 patients a year.
• 2007-2009: The WCDC responds to an unmet demand for services by adding three additional operatories and increasing staffing. As a result, over 3,500 patients a year are seen.
• 2009-2018: By 2018, over 14,000 patients have been seen, and twice-a-year on-site services are provided to over 300 children in 11 area Head Start programs.
• 2018-2019: Due to downtown redevelopment, the WCDC must relocate from its original site of 18 years. With support from the local community, including foundation grants and individual donations, a new building is found and renovated, and the WCDC reopens at 2 Evergreen Drive in First Park.

Our Mission

The mission of the Waterville Community Dental Center is to improve access to quality oral health care for low-income, uninsured, underinsured, and Medicaid-eligible residents of central Maine. We are dedicated to providing a full range of oral health services, from education and preventative care to restorative care. We accept all forms of payment, including MaineCare and private insurance. For income-qualified individuals, we offer sliding fee reduced dental rates.
