Rexwinkel Funeral Homes' history began with the establishment of our first location at 107 12th Street in Le Mars, Iowa, by Doug and Karen Carlsen in January 2002. Designed with the needs of client families as the top priority, our facility offers a spacious 6,900 sq. foot environment for dignified funeral services tailored to individual family preferences. The facility includes a large chapel area that can accommodate up to 250 people, a children's play room, fully handicapped-accessible restrooms, and our unique Family Fellowship Center.

The Family Fellowship Center, a comfortable and convenient space for gathering during visitations and receptions, was established with the intent to serve families better during stressful times. Our Akron, Iowa, location was added to our family in 2004 after a partnership with Dan and Lori Rexwinkel and the purchase of the Schroeder Funeral Home from Ron and Karen Schroeder. In 2010, we merged with Feuerstein Funeral Home in Le Mars, further expanding the professional services we offer. On June 15, 2016, Dan and Lori Rexwinkel became the sole owners, and our locations were renamed Rexwinkel Funeral Homes.
