Our History

Schreck Kitchens was founded by Emil Schreck in 1949, who, along with two skilled craftsmen, used Old World techniques to create kitchen cabinets in Lombard. In 1969, R. Allan Bowman and William Ward became partners and the new owners of Schreck Kitchens. The company flourished under their leadership, offering quality, expertise, service, and value that made Schreck Kitchens a trusted name in the industry.

In 1981, the showroom was doubled in size when the company moved to South Elgin. This move also allowed for the addition of two more high-quality cabinetry manufacturers. In 2015, Bowman Design Group was established to bring in more talented kitchen designers to meet the increasing demand for Schreck Kitchens' products and services. Today, Schreck Kitchens is still owned and operated by Bowman's sons, Robert, Tom, and Craig, continuing the tradition of excellence that has made Schreck Kitchens successful for over 65 years.
