Our Mission and Philosophy
At The Actors Project, our mission is to bring high-quality, free theatrical performances to elementary schools and children's hospitals, making the arts accessible to everyone. We believe that theatre has the power to educate, inspire, and bring people together. Our productions are designed to engage both students and adults, encouraging them to explore the world of theatre and the arts.
Our Company
Founded by Artistic Director Andrew Preston, The Actors Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to providing unforgettable experiences through live theatre. Our company is comprised of experienced professionals who share our passion for theatre and our dedication to making it accessible to all.
Our Productions
We produce original plays, written by our company members, that are tailored to engage students of all ages and abilities. Our productions are designed to be fun, entertaining, and educational, with a moral, character builder, or historical plot element at their center. Our 45-minute shows are performed on the floor of the school cafeteria or auditorium, with the students sitting on the floor as well. No stage area is required.
Our Approach
We believe that every student deserves the opportunity to experience live theatre, regardless of their background or financial situation. That's why we offer our productions for free to elementary schools and children's hospitals. Our goal is not only to entertain but to inspire, educate, and bring people together.
Our Values
At The Actors Project, we value creativity, innovation, and excellence in everything we do. We believe that theatre can be a powerful tool for social change and that it has the ability to bring people together across cultures, backgrounds, and age groups. We strive to create productions that are rich, imaginative, and honest, with a focus on building bridges between people and cultures.
