Welcome to the Academy of Strings, a music academy dedicated to providing high-quality music education and performance to children and youth in the Johnson City, TN area. Our mission is to foster well-balanced students through "human being" education, using music as a tool to teach sensitivity, patience, confidence, respect, and self-discipline.

Our Philosophy

At the Academy of Strings, we believe that "with the right environment and the right works, every child can!" Our philosophy is centered on the Suzuki Method of Talent Education, which emphasizes the importance of nurturing and supporting children as they develop their musical abilities. Our faculty, led by violinists and master teachers Tim and Kim Barrett, is dedicated to providing exceptional instruction and guidance to our students.

Our Services

The Academy of Strings offers a comprehensive music education program that includes individual and group lessons, as well as concerts and performances throughout the semester. Our students receive personalized instruction tailored to their needs and abilities, and are given the opportunity to share their music with others through public performances.
