Welcome to Legal Services, your trusted partner in connecting the legal aid community. We are a dedicated organization committed to fostering a vibrant and supportive legal aid community by sharing news, training opportunities, resources, and updates. Our mission is to empower local communities with access to legal resources and promote the well-being of legal professionals.
Legal Services News
We regularly update our news section with the latest developments in the legal aid community. Recently, Governor Walz appointed Veena Iyer, executive director of Immigrant Law Center of MN (ILCM), as a judge for the Second Judicial District (May 14, 2024). We also cover significant events, such as Well-Being Week in Law (May 6 - 10, 2024), and provide insights into the ongoing efforts to improve the well-being of legal professionals.
Community Empowerment
Our commitment to local communities extends to providing resources that enhance access to legal services. We are proud to share the success of A2J Tech's Legal Kiosks (Apr 22, 2024), which offer community members increased access to legal resources and the internet. Additionally, we celebrate the Hennepin County Attorney's Office's new policy (Apr 1, 2024) that eases the process of acquiring U and T visas for noncitizen crime victims, encouraging them to seek help when facing domestic violence, sexual assault, or trafficking.
State Support
Legal Services State Support is excited to announce our newly redesigned website (Mar 21, 2024), offering a fresh appearance, fewer clicks to access familiar content, and the ability to become a member for exclusive on-demand training and content. Our website serves as a centralized hub for the legal aid community, promoting knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Training and Education
We believe in the power of education and knowledge sharing. Our training section features upcoming events and workshops designed to elevate the skills and expertise of legal professionals. We also regularly share booklets and resources to support ongoing professional development. Moreover, our Positions Available section allows organizations to share job opportunities, fostering a thriving legal aid community.
Leadership and Advocacy
We are proud to feature interviews with influential leaders in the legal aid community, such as Milo Mumgaard, the new executive director of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) (Apr 19, 2024). Our interviews delve into the personal stories and values that drive these leaders, promoting inspiration and motivation.
Access to Justice
Legal Services is dedicated to ensuring equal access to justice for all, especially those most vulnerable. We share updates on policies and initiatives that alleviate the burden of medical debt (Apr 16, 2024), empowering citizens with essential information. Our commitment to justice extends to immigration policy, with new policies easing the process for noncitizen crime victims (Mar 21, 2024).
In conclusion, Legal Services is more than a platform; it is a thriving community committed to empowering local communities, fostering the well-being of legal professionals, and promoting equal access to justice.
