The roots of Craft Metal Products, Inc. can be traced back to Old World origins and Christian moral values, forged in the trials of the great depression and World War II. A successful Swiss businessman, Henri A. Mouron, emigrated to the United States in 1910 with his wife and 10 of their 11 children. His objective was to provide his growing family with business opportunities and the freedoms found in the United States of America.

One of his sons, a metal working businessman by trade, became involved in the manufacturing of lighting and store fixtures in Indianapolis in the 1920s. Henri's grandsons, having set aside their careers for military service during World War II, returned to Indianapolis to find that their former jobs had been terminated by the shift to war production. They were hired by their uncle, who had a backlog of domestic orders accumulated during the war but delayed for production because of raw materials being diverted to the war effort.

The business, Sam Mouron Equipment Co., prospered, and one of Henri's grandsons left to start Mouron & Co., a manufacturer of high-quality stainless steel food service equipment. Two of Henri's grandsons who were trained in engineering, accounting, and the metal working trade, left to found Craft Metal Products Co. in 1955. Their objective was to expand the production of high-quality lighting fixtures.

Craft Metal Products, Inc. initially manufactured and private labeled lighting products for sale by other lighting businesses. Since 1980, private labeling ceased, and all lighting fixtures have been sold exclusively under the name Craft Metal Products. The company was incorporated in 1987 by a great grandson who learned the metal working trade, is a graduate engineer, and is the present CEO. The current plant manager, a great, great grandson who is a trained machinist, is also involved with the engineering and design process.

The current generations and skilled employees of Craft Metal Products, Inc. are actively involved in CAD/CAM and innovative manufacturing techniques to offer the very latest technology in lighting fixtures at affordable prices. The name, Craft Metal Products, was chosen to convey a sense of the family's appreciation for the craftsmanship and the material that they use to build their products. Their trademark, "Distinctive Quality Lighting, " was chosen to convey their careful attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality lighting solutions.
