At Food Front, we are proud to have a Board of Directors that is dedicated to serving our community and ensuring the success of our cooperative grocery store. The Board represents the Owners and is responsible for creating a vision for the co-op, providing strategic leadership, and safeguarding the interests of our Owners. The Board members are elected directly by the Owners and are committed to exercising good judgment in their decision-making processes.
Board Member Responsibilities
As a cooperative business, Food Front's Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the co-op's operations and ensuring that it aligns with the International Cooperative Alliance Statement of Cooperative Identity. The Board creates a vision for the co-op, sets long-range goals, makes strategic decisions about the co-op's future, approves capital and operating budgets, and recruits new directors to ensure a well-qualified Board. The Board does not involve itself in the daily operations of the store, instead focusing on providing strategic leadership and ensuring the sound management of the co-op's resources.
Exercise Care
Board members are expected to exercise care in their decision-making processes, using the same good judgment that an ordinarily prudent person in a similar position would use. This ensures that the Board makes informed decisions that benefit the co-op and its Owners.
