Skeen Furniture Company is a fourth-generation, family-owned business that has been serving the Pecos Valley and West Texas for over 88 years. Founded in 1935 by Ivan and Elizabeth Skeen, the company started as a small furniture store located at 321 S. Canyon. Over the years, Skeen Furniture has grown to become one of the oldest furniture dealers in Southeastern New Mexico and West Texas, delivering value, top-notch service, and competitive prices to our customers.

Our History

Skeen Furniture was founded on the principles of providing high-quality furniture, mattresses, carpet, and accessories at affordable prices. In the early days, used furniture was easier to come by, and Elizabeth Skeen even made mattresses herself in the original building. In the 1970s, Kelly Skeen, the second-generation owner, expanded the business by purchasing the old Sears building and offering the latest brands. Skeen Furniture was the first LA-Z-BOY dealer in New Mexico, bringing brands to Carlsbad that were typically only found in larger cities.

Today, the company is owned and operated by Stacey Cooper, the fourth-generation owner. Stacey has a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design from Texas Tech University and has been working in the design industry for almost 30 years. She is passionate about finding the best quality of furniture and accessories for Carlsbad and the surrounding areas.

Our showroom is over 30,000 sq feet of furniture and accessories for every room in your home. Our inventory features everything from bedroom, dining room, and living room to home office, accent pieces, area rugs, and carpet. We offer a large selection of styles in stock and can custom order many brands to fit your imagination.

At Skeen Furniture, we are committed to giving back to our community. We are active members of the Rotary Club of Carlsbad and the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce. We financially support various school sports, band, and choir, and were chosen as Chamber members of the month in 2015. We have also been featured in Focus Magazine as "Business Spotlight" in 2019 and 2023.
