At Solar Spirits, we're passionate about crafting award-winning spirits that not only delight the palate but also contribute to a sustainable future. Our journey began with a simple yet revolutionary idea: to harness the power of the sun to create exceptional spirits. We believe that the sun's energy is the perfect complement to the natural ingredients we source directly from local farms in the Pacific Northwest.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create a distillery powered entirely by the sun, and we're committed to making it a reality. We've taken the first step by installing a solar thermal system, which generates hot water for our distillation process. To bridge the gap until we can install our own solar electric system, we're purchasing Renewable Energy Credits (REC) to offset our purchased electricity. These REC's are Green-e Energy Certified and meet the environmental and consumer-protection standards set forth by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions.

Meet the Team

Our team is led by Jim Batdorf, our Master Distiller, who brings his expertise as a PhD. Chemical engineer to develop new sustainable technology to distill our award-winning craft vodkas, gins, brandies, and whiskies. Jim is passionate about continuing his education on the distillation process and flavor profiles of spirits. Dan Watt, our Production Manager, joins Jim with his wealth of knowledge on fermentation and production management. Together, they're dedicated to creating the best-in-class craft spirits that showcase the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

From our award-winning Eclipse Vodka to our Single Malt Whiskey, Cranberry Brandy, Cosmic Cosmo, Coffee Vodka, London Dry Gin, and Barrel Finished Gin, every bottle is a testament to our commitment to quality and sustainability. Our spirits are double-distilled using both a pot still and a column still, giving us fine control over the flavors in our spirits.
