Where Art and Nature Come Alive

At Shiloh Pottery, Inc., we are a creative haven where one of the oldest human art forms is still alive and well. Located on our family farm in Carroll County, Maryland, we offer a unique shopping experience, classes, workshops, kids camps, events, and more. Our story began in 1972 when our founders, Ken and Marty, returned to Maryland from graduate school at Alfred University in New York State. Since then, we have made stoneware pots, run a potters' supply business, made and sold kick wheels, and fired salt-glazed pots with gas or wood.

Our Passion for Pottery

As a Master Craftsman and Art Teacher, Ken Hankins has dedicated his life to preserving the art of pottery. With a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and a Masters Degree in Ceramic Art Education from Alfred, Ken has taught classes of all kinds in our studio, schools, and colleges. He has also attended many craft fairs and shows, and has run workshops with famous and talented potters. Our team is passionate about creating functional and beautiful pieces of art that bring joy to our customers.
