History

The Peninsula Golf & Country Club was founded in 1911 and has a storied history that is deeply intertwined with the fabric of the community. The first golf course on the property was designed by Tom Bendelow, a renowned golf course architect who was instrumental in the development of the sport in the early 20th century. In 1922, Donald Ross, who is widely considered to be the most influential golf course designer in the history of the sport, designed the current course. The course has undergone several renovations over the years, with the most recent restoration completed by Ron Forse in 2003.

Our club has been home to many notable events and milestones in golf history. In 1969, George Archer, a member of the club, won the Masters Tournament, a feat that is still celebrated and commemorated at the club to this day. Our club's rich history is carefully preserved and documented by Michael Jamieson, our esteemed Club Historian, who has been serving in this role since 1989.
