Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Individuals and Families
We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting communities impacted by the criminal justice system. Our work focuses on advocating for the release of incarcerated individuals, restoring civil rights, and reunifying families. We engage in legal advocacy, policy reform, grassroots organizing, and public education to address structural racism and gender inequality in policing, courts, and prisons.

As a California State Bar legal support center, we provide informational resources and referrals while training legal professionals nationwide. Our mission, rooted in 45 years of advocacy, prioritizes the voices and leadership of those directly affected by mass incarceration.

We provide legal advocacy through litigation, policy reform, and training programs. Our work establishes legal precedents protecting incarcerated individuals' rights, including ending solitary confinement and safeguarding pregnant prisoners. We collaborate with legal professionals nationwide to expand alternatives to incarceration while focusing on systemic racial and gender justice reforms.
Grassroots Organizing
Our grassroots organizing empowers impacted communities through campaigns like All of Us or None. We build coalitions, lead protests, and develop leadership among formerly incarcerated individuals. Initiatives include family visitation rights campaigns and voter registration drives for formerly incarcerated citizens, creating sustainable movements for criminal justice reform.
