Our History

Maxson & Associates was founded in 1970 by Perry Maxson, a licensed public accountant with extensive management experience in the specialty retail industry. Starting with a small desk in the corner of a garage, Perry's goal was to provide small business owners with meaningful financial statements that would help them profitably run their companies.

In 1970, Perry formed a public accounting firm to begin offering his expertise to clients. He was soon joined by his son, Larry, who brought a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Cal State University-Long Beach and experience from one of the "Big Eight" accounting firms.

In 2017, Joe Gustaff, CPA, who had been with the firm for over 25 years, assumed the position of President and majority shareholder. Today, Maxson & Associates has two offices in Long Beach and Santa Ana, with a team of five professionals and dedicated support staff.
