R Campground

R Campground, Inc. is a privately owned and operated campground that was established in November 1999. Located in Charles City, Iowa, R Campground was founded with the goal of providing comprehensive camping services to the area. Spanning approximately 21 acres along the Cedar River, R Campground boasts a serene 3-acre pond that offers easy fishing for campers. The campground is open year-round, with registration taking place at the Laundry Building located at the entrance of the grounds.

At R Campground, we welcome pets as long as they are kept on a leash, and their owners clean up after them. Our campground is designed to cater to all types of campers, from those looking for a full hookup experience to those seeking a more basic tent site. We offer a monthly rate of $600, as well as a weekly rate that includes a free night. Camping sites are only rented to persons over the age of 18, and must be occupied by at least one responsible adult.

Canoe rentals are available for $30.00 per day, per canoe. Each canoe must be returned by sundown each day, and rentals will be to persons 18 years of age or older. Campfire wood and LP Gas are sold on-site.

Rules

When entering the park, please pick up registration envelopes and maps at the laundry building before parking. Place your registration slip on the numbered campsite sign on the end of the picnic table, and checkout time is 4 PM on Sunday through Thursday, 3 PM on Friday and Saturday. Quiet must be observed after 11:00 PM. To avoid theft, please put coolers and valuables in vehicles at night, or if you will be away from your camping area for a period of time.

Campfires are permitted only in fire rings, and no cans, bottles, or other non-combustibles are to be thrown into the fires. No clothing, pots, or pans can be washed in the bathroom sinks. Pets must be on leashes at all times, and owners must clean up after them. Small children must not use the shower unattended. Only one picnic table per unit, unless you brought your own extra table. No horseshoe pitching is permitted in the camping area. When the campground is being mowed, please remove all objects from the grass. The speed limit in the park is 15 mph and will be enforced at all times. You must be over 18 years of age to register a camping unit. No swimming after 8:00 PM.

Please report all violations to the owner/camp host, and violation of any of the above rules can lead to immediate termination of your camping permit.

On-Site Attractions

At R Campground, we offer canoe rentals, three tetherball courts, two play areas, and a horseshoe court located just east of the Entrance Road. Additionally, there are several nearby attractions, including the Floyd County Museum (Listed in National Register) Hart Parr/Oliver Tractor Exhibit, golf courses, Lion's Field Swimming Pool/Lion's Park, Charles City Art Museum, Mooney Art Collectoin (Public Library), Stoney Point Players Community Theater, bike paths, America's Hometown 4th of July Celebration, Little Brown Church (Nashua), Rockford Fossil Beds & Nature Center, Carrie Chapman Catt House Museum, Party in the Park every other Friday Night through the summer in Central Park, and Whitewater Kayak Rodeo Course.
