Our History

Complete General Construction, a name synonymous with quality and reliability in the construction industry, boasts a rich history dating back to 1928. Founded by John Guzzo, the company started as a modest operation specializing in sewer and sidewalk construction. Despite the challenging economic landscape of the Great Depression, Complete General persevered, keeping busy through WPA projects and establishing a solid foundation.

The post-World War II housing boom propelled the company's growth and expansion. In 1948, the company reached a significant milestone by incorporating under the name Complete General Construction Co., Inc., marking a new era of development and diversification. As the road construction sector flourished, Complete General shifted its focus towards highway construction, becoming a prominent player in this rapidly evolving industry.

From the late 1950s to the 1970s, Complete General Construction was instrumental in shaping Ohio's Interstate highway system. The company's early contributions included pioneering sections of I-71, paving the way for future expansion and connectivity. Over the years, Complete General's expertise has been instrumental in building significant sections of SR-315, I-670, and I-270, leaving an enduring legacy on Ohio's transportation infrastructure.

Most recently, Complete General Construction constructed Ohio's first smart lane on I-670, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to innovation and progress within the construction industry. The company's steady growth and unwavering dedication to excellence have expanded its service portfolio to encompass bridge construction and repair, paving, site preparation, highway and underground electric work, street lighting and signal layout, airport taxiway construction, and custom crushing/recycling.

From its humble beginnings, Complete General Construction has flourished into a multi-faceted enterprise guided by a century-old commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction. The company remains a proud family-owned and operated business, with Lee Guzzo, the current chairman, representing the third generation, and Peter Guzzo, the president, the fourth generation.
