At Tops American Bar, Bakery & Grill, we are a locally owned and operated business that is deeply rooted in the community of Rotterdam, New York. We pride ourselves on being a family restaurant that serves up quality food at affordable prices, making us the perfect destination for families, couples, and individuals alike. Our menu is vast and varied, offering everything from breakfast favorites to lunch and dinner options, as well as a selection of sweet treats from our in-house pastry chef.

Our Story

The history of Tops American Grill dates back to 1953, when my grandmother's brother first opened the original "rail car" diner at the five corners. Over the years, the restaurant has undergone several transformations, with my father and his partner "Uncle Nick" doubling the size of the restaurant in 1983. In 2006, my father and I embarked on a total rebuild and rebranding of Tops, bringing it into the modern era while still maintaining the family tradition of serving up quality food and warm hospitality.

Our pastry chef works tirelessly to create delicious desserts and pastries from scratch, as well as some of our breads. We are dedicated to providing an exceptional dining experience that is both delicious and affordable.
