Our History

Our building, a designated Texas and National Historical Landmark, has a rich history dating back to 1840. With its massive thick walls, it has survived every natural disaster to strike the island, including the great fire of 1885, the great hurricane and disaster of 1900, and all the remaining storms of the century, including hurricane Ike in 2008. Our building has been newly renovated to include major structural reinforcements, a state-of-the-art fire sprinkler system, a new freight elevator, and a new roof.
