Founded by Moowid Joseph, a Lebanese immigrant, our family-owned and operated business has been a staple in the community for over a century.

Our History: A Legacy of Serving the Community

Our history dates back to 1915 when Moowid Joseph opened his first grocery store on Long Avenue. Since then, the Joseph family has opened several other stores, including a downtown location that lasted from 1955 to 2005, a Walmo store in Neshannock that lasted for seven years in the 1960s, and Joseph's Supermarket in the North City Plaza that remained open until 1995. The Joseph family has always attributed its success to the New Castle community, which is why it has given back in various ways. From financing an entire New Castle little league that encompassed all eight wards in the 1950s and early 1960s to opening our current location on Mercer Road in 2007, we have been committed to serving the community for over a century.
