The Green Turtle Inn has been a landmark in Islamorada since 1947, captivating travelers, locals, and critics alike with its exquisite cuisine, warm hospitality, and unmatched atmosphere. This iconic bar and restaurant has a rich history, dating back to the early 1940s when the Overseas Highway to Key West was built, giving rise to the first motoring tourists in the area. As the tourism industry took off, Sid and Roxie Siderious purchased a roadside establishment in 1947 and transformed it into the Green Turtle Inn. The restaurant quickly gained popularity for its mouth-watering dishes, featuring sea turtles as the main attraction.
The Making of a Landmark
The story of the Green Turtle Inn is deeply rooted in the history of Islamorada. The Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 destroyed Flagler's Overseas Railroad, leading to the construction of the Overseas Highway to Key West. As the road opened up to motorized traffic in the early 1940s, so did the doors to the first motoring tourists in the area. To cater to this influx of visitors, Sid and Roxie Siderious acquired a roadside establishment in 1947 and transformed it into the Green Turtle Inn. Over the years, the restaurant continued to thrive, hosting travelers and locals alike, and offering them an unforgettable dining experience.

Located at Mile Marker 81.2 Oceanside, Islamorada, FL 33036, the Green Turtle Inn is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 9 pm; Friday from 7 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 10 pm; Saturday from 7 am to 2 pm and 4 pm to 10 pm; and Sunday from 7 am to 2 pm.
