Abe's legal journey began in law school, where he developed an interest in criminal law. During his time at law school, Abe interned in the Homicide Unit of the Queens District Attorney's office and the Special Prosecutions Bureau of the Manhattan D.A.'s Office. This hands-on experience gave him the skills and knowledge he needed to excel in the field of criminal law.

After graduating from law school, Abe spent eight years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Manhattan D.A.'s Office under both Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau and current Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance. During his time in the Manhattan D.A.'s Office, Abe prosecuted narcotics crimes, cracked down on violent gangs, investigated cold case homicides, and worked in a generalized trial bureau handling a variety of crimes.

In 2012, Abe left the Manhattan D.A.'s office to enter private practice as a criminal defense attorney and to run for Brooklyn District Attorney. Abe campaigned for over a year, advocating for issues such as reforming the NYPD's "Stop and Frisk" policy and decriminalizing marijuana. Although Abe decided to step aside from the campaign, he joined forces with Ken Thompson, who ultimately beat 23-year incumbent Brooklyn District Attorney Charles J. Hynes.

Abe joined Ken Thompson's transition team in 2013 and accepted a job as Deputy Bureau Chief of the Major Narcotics Investigative Bureau in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office in 2014. However, Abe left the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office in late 2014 to resume a career in private practice and assist the Jeffrey Deskovic Foundation for Justice in helping fight wrongful convictions.

Today, Abe focuses his legal practice on civil rights, criminal defense, and general civil litigation. He is committed to fighting for justice and preserving a civilized justice system.
