Our Track Record

The Doss Firm's attorneys have a proven track record of success in representing consumers, investors, and businesses in various legal matters. Some of our notable cases include:

  • In re Equifax, Inc. Customer Data Security Breach Litigation

In this case, our attorneys were part of a twelve-attorney leadership structure appointed by Chief Judge Thomas W. Thrash in MDL to lead the consumer track and represent the interests of over 145 million consumers nationwide who had their personal identifiable information (PII) stolen in one of the largest data breaches in U.S. history. The case settled for over $380 million, making it the largest data breach settlement in U.S. history.

  • Elizabeth Belin v. Health Insurance Innovations, Inc.

Our attorneys were appointed co-lead counsel and represented a class of more than 200,000 consumers nationwide who were allegedly defrauded into purchasing major medical health insurance when in fact, the policies were limited indemnity. The Court certified a nationwide federal RICO class, which is a very difficult achievement. The case settled for approximately $27.5 million.

  • Stephen Thaxton and Patricia Thaxton v. CAG, LLC, et al.

We were appointed Class Counsel in a class action involving an alleged investment scheme. The case settled on a class-wide basis for $15.755 million.

  • Ellison v. Southstar Energy Services, LLC

Our attorneys served as co-lead counsel for a settlement class of approximately 460,000 consumers alleging that the largest natural gas provider in Georgia, Georgia Natural Gas, overcharged them for natural gas services. The case settled for an $11.5 million settlement after successfully appealing dismissal to the Georgia Supreme Court, changing more than 60 years of precedent on the voluntary payment doctrine.

  • Fowler v. SCANA Energy Marketing, Inc.

Our firm was appointed as Co-lead counsel for a consumer class of approximately 250,000 members alleging that the second largest natural gas provider in Georgia, SCANA Energy, overcharged them for natural gas services. The case settled for $6.5 million.

Over the last 20 years, our firm's attorneys have also represented individual investors in investment disputes in federal and state court as well as securities arbitrations sponsored by FINRA. For example, our firm successfully represented a large group of investors who were defrauded in a Ponzi scheme at the Atlanta-based mega-church, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. The case was deemed as one of the largest church-based affinity fraud schemes in American history, received national media attention, and was featured on the popular ABC show Nightline.
