Our History

Helmkamp Construction was founded in 1938 by Frank Helmkamp, who started the company as a small plumbing and heating business in Belleville, Illinois. Over the years, the company expanded its services to include general contracting, and in 1965, Frank's son, Jerry Helmkamp, took over the business and grew it into the successful construction firm it is today. Today, Helmkamp Construction is a leading provider of construction services in the industrial, life science, and building markets.

Our Safety Philosophy

At Helmkamp Construction, safety is not just a priority - it is a core value that is ingrained in everything we do. Our safety record is well above industry standards, and we are committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees and our clients. Our superintendents are 30 Hour OSHA trained, and we provide ongoing safety training and monthly safety meetings that are open to all staff, subcontractors, and clients. Our Safety Director, Austin Cichon, uses technology to view inspections real-time, allowing us to estimate the safety needs and resources at the forefront of each jobsite. On-site safety inspections are performed at least weekly, and on-site safety meetings are performed daily.
