A Legacy of Surveying and Commitment to Property Rights

Surveying is in Tom's blood. His family's history in surveying dates back ten generations, with his 7th great-grandfather surveying land grants for the King of England in the colonies. This family legacy has not only shaped Tom's career path but has also instilled in him a deep commitment to protecting individuals' property rights. He has a proven track record of taking governmental officials and politicians to task when they attempt to trample on these rights.

The History of Our Company

In 1980, Tom Sage started a consulting engineering company in Big Rapids, which over time grew to include land surveying services. In 1982, he partnered with Henry Mulder, a licensed surveyor, to form the firm Sage & Mulder, P.C. This partnership was a significant step in the company's history, showcasing its commitment to comprehensive services. The partnership continued until 1988, when Mr. Mulder moved his family for health reasons. Despite the end of the partnership, the two remain close friends, and Tom continues to cherish the mentoring and professionalism he received from Henry.

Education and Experience: The Cornerstone of Our Expertise

Tom's impressive credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University, as well as being a Professional Engineer and Professional Surveyor in the state of Michigan. With 42 years of experience in the design and management of engineering projects, he has been involved in the survey, design, and project administration of various projects including streets, bridges, buildings, dams, airports, water-mains, and sanitary sewer systems. His extensive experience in land surveying includes retracement of original government surveys, boundary surveys, topographical surveys, and subdivision platting.
