Empowering Young Minds for a Brighter Future
At Open Door Preschool, we're committed to providing a nurturing environment that fosters the growth and development of young children. Since 1964, we've been dedicated to our mission of enhancing the growth of each child by encouraging a positive self-image, promoting independence from home, and fostering responsibility in a non-sectarian, child-centered environment.
Our History
In 1964, a group of parents opened the first integrated kindergarten in Augusta, GA. No child was turned away due to their ethnicity or religion. It was the only school with an 'open door' policy and was entirely administered by the parents. For more than 50 years, Open Door Preschool has continued to provide a nurturing environment for children 14 months through kindergarten. It remains unique as the only parent-run, non-sectarian preschool in the area. True to its history, it continues to be a non-profit organization.
Our Goals
Open Door strives to develop a listening ear, encourage a trusting response, and stimulate a joyful curiosity in the seeking of knowledge which will be guided on to more disciplined work.
