Dedicated to Developing Life Skills Through Golf
Who We Are
The Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association (SWFJGA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing tournament golf venues for developing junior golfers. With over 50 years of existence, our junior golf program has produced multiple PGA and LPGA touring professionals, local PGA and LPGA club professionals, as well as many local business leaders.
Our Mission
Our mission is to instill the qualities of leadership enabling today's youth to become future business leaders, professionals, neighbors, teachers, and club professionals. We aim to build individual character and skills to positively impact society. We also support the continuing education of the next generation of leaders through the funding of college scholarships. By providing juniors with the unique opportunity to golf under tournament conditions, we enable them to experience and successfully master the stimulus of competition, pressure, and tension, while demonstrating integrity, sportsmanship, and personal responsibility required under the Rules of Golf.
Our Services
Our organization offers a summer program designed for golfers aged 8-12, consisting of 8 tournaments starting the first Monday in June and concluding in August. Our program aims to provide a fun and competitive environment for junior golfers to develop their skills and build friendships. We also offer scholarship opportunities to deserving high school seniors who have participated in SWFJGA. Since 1974, we have awarded over $482,000 in scholarships to help junior golfers reach their educational goals.
Our Board of Directors
Our organization is run by a volunteer board of directors, with the help and assistance of volunteer parents at our events. Our board consists of dedicated individuals who share a passion for junior golf and a commitment to providing a premier golf experience for our junior members.
Volunteer Opportunities
We rely on the support of dedicated volunteers to help us run our tournaments and events. If you or your business would like to make a donation to SWFJGA, please contact Barb Kursh at bbrownkursh@gmail.com. We also encourage volunteers to join us at our events and help make a difference in the lives of junior golfers.
Child Sexual Abuse Policy
We take the safety and well-being of our junior members extremely seriously. Our organization has a zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse or neglect. Any reported incidents will be immediately reported to the proper authorities following Florida Statues 39.201.
Conclusion
For over 50 years, SWFJGA has provided a platform for junior golfers to develop their skills, build character, and forge lifelong friendships. We are proud to have produced multiple PGA and LPGA touring professionals, local PGA and LPGA club professionals, as well as many local business leaders. Our commitment to junior golf continues to grow, and we look forward to inspiring the next generation of golfers.
