Prairie Rose Funeral Home

At Prairie Rose Funeral Homes, we are a family-oriented business dedicated to providing compassionate and caring funeral services to the communities of Harper County and beyond. Our story began in the 1950s with Lawrence and Frances Parsons, who founded Parsons Funeral Home in Anthony, Kansas. Over the years, our business has evolved and expanded, but our commitment to serving families with respect, dignity, and kindness has remained unchanged.

Our Story

In 1982, Bob Williams, a licensed embalmer and funeral director in both Oklahoma and Kansas, purchased Parsons Funeral Home and renamed it Parsons Williams Funeral Home. Under his leadership, the business expanded to include locations in Argonia, Kansas, and Wakita, Oklahoma. Although these locations were eventually closed due to declining populations, we continue to serve these communities through our Anthony location.

In July 2004, Bob Williams sold the funeral home to Mary Thomas, a licensed funeral director, and her husband, John. The funeral home was then renamed Prairie Rose Funeral Homes. In July 2005, Prairie Rose Funeral Homes opened a branch in Harper, Kansas, and in 2007, they acquired Elliott Funeral Homes in Anthony and Harper.

In 2015, Mary Thomas retired, and Steve Shelley and his family purchased Prairie Rose Funeral Homes. On March 1, 2020, Autumn (Williams) Kloefkorn and James Williams, daughter and son of Bob Williams, purchased Prairie Rose Funeral Homes in Anthony and Harper. They are thrilled to continue their family's legacy of providing professional, compassionate, and caring services to Harper County and the surrounding areas.
