Our Story
Mountain Top Kids, founded in 1979, is the oldest childcare facility on the mountain. We are proud to offer a full-scale Preschool/Pre-K program as well as quality child care for children ages birth to thirteen years old. Our mission is to foster socialization skills, encourage self-help skills, and develop independence in a nurturing environment.
Our Services
We are divided into six developmental segments: Nursery, Toddlers and Two's at our Marian Court location, and Preschool, Pre-K, and School Age at our South Main Road location. Our programs are designed to promote positive self-esteem, socialization, and exploration. We offer a range of activities including art, music, drama, and physical education to ensure a well-rounded education. Our staff is trained in Pediatric First Aid, CPR, Water Safety, Fire Safety, and dealing with challenging behaviors.
Program Philosophy
Each program is designed to meet the unique needs of its age group. Our Nursery focuses on the primary concerns of newborns to toddlers, with a ratio of 1 adult to 4 infants. Our Young Toddlers and Two's programs emphasize promoting good self-esteem, with a focus on each child's strengths. Our Preschool and Pre-K programs follow an approved Early Childhood curriculum centered on monthly themes, including circle time, learning centers, and personalized desks. Our School Age program provides a safe and stimulating environment before and after school, as well as during summer vacations. Our Summer Day Camp includes daily field trips and educational activities designed to promote exploration and discovery.
Approaches to Learning
Our programs incorporate various approaches to learning, including Constructing, Organizing, and Applying Knowledge; Social and Emotional Development; Health, Wellness, and Physical Development; and Creative Thinking and Expression. We strive to develop skills in language, literacy, mathematical thinking, and scientific inquiry, while also promoting social studies thinking and community partnerships.
