Our Story
The story of Groth Vineyards & Winery began over 40 years ago, when our founders, Dennis and Judy Groth, made the bold decision to leave their careers in Silicon Valley behind and pursue their passion for wine. With the guidance of renowned winemaker Nils Venge, they launched their winery in 1982 and began producing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Chardonnay.
Going All-In
The early years of the winery were marked by hard work, dedication, and a commitment to producing high-quality wines. In 1985, the Groths made the bold decision to turn their passion into their full-time profession, and their family home. Over the years, they continued to innovate and experiment with new blends and techniques, earning the respect and admiration of their peers and critics.
The Second Generation
Today, Groth Vineyards & Winery is proud to be a family-owned and operated winery, with the second generation of Grotches stepping into leadership roles. Our winemaker, Michael Weis, has been with us for over 26 years, and has played a crucial role in shaping our winemaking style and philosophy. Our commitment to sustainability, quality, and customer service remains unwavering, and we are excited to see what the future holds for our winery.
Our Estate Vineyards
Our Estate Vineyards are spread across multiple locations in the Napa Valley, including our flagship Oakville Estate, nestled on the valley floor in the heart of the appellation.
