Our Story

What began as a humble homebrewing endeavor in Carson's carport has blossomed into a beloved establishment deeply rooted in the heart of Boone. The story of Booneshine Brewing Co. is a testament to the power of passion, dedication, and a shared vision of making the High Country a brighter, more vibrant place.

It all started with a simple conversation over yogurt in January 2012. Driven by a love for craft brewing and fueled by countless hours spent experimenting with recipes and visiting breweries across the region, the founders had a clear mission: create exceptional beer while contributing to the well-being of their community. The name "Booneshine" emerged from lighthearted brainstorming, initially evoking a playful nod to moonshine. But the more they contemplated it, the more the name resonated. "Booneshine" represented a celebration of their home, the spirit of the High Country, and their commitment to crafting a truly unique brew.

With their vision solidified, the team poured their heart and soul into setting up shop. Booneshine Brewing Co. officially opened its doors in July 2015, nestled next to the bustling Basil's restaurant. The early days were characterized by a contagious energy and a dedication to quality. Equipped with three 10-barrel fermentation tanks, they quickly gained a loyal following, eager to savor the distinctive flavors that set Booneshine apart.

The demand for Booneshine's craft creations soared, signaling the need for expansion. In late 2016, three more 10-barrel fermenters were added, fueling their capacity to produce even more of their beloved brews. Embracing the latest advancements in the industry, Booneshine launched mobile canning operations in March 2017, ensuring their freshly brewed beer could be enjoyed far beyond the tap room.

Recognizing the need for a dedicated space to accommodate their growing clientele and the expanding brewing footprint, Booneshine acquired a property in East Boone in late 2017. This strategic move not only provided ample space for brewing operations but also paved the way for a transformative addition: a full-service tasting room and restaurant.

Mid-2018 witnessed the relocation of the brewing operations to the East Boone site, where they doubled their fermentation capacity, ensuring they could keep pace with the rising demand for their brews. The tasting room and restaurant, a culmination of meticulous planning and a dedication to creating a welcoming atmosphere, opened its doors in July 2019. The project, a true labor of love, involved the participation of many local East Boone friends and businesses.

The tasting room was thoughtfully designed and constructed by 4FortyFour construction, while Hardin Creek Timber Frame and Millwork brought to life the inviting patio space. The spirit of the local community infused every aspect of the project. Charleston Forge crafted the distinctive bar stools, each upholstered with premium leather from Carroll Leather. The restaurant menu showcased local flavors, featuring succulent country ham from Goodnight Brothers, just across the street.

Driven by a desire to provide an even more vibrant and dynamic experience for their customers, Booneshine took another significant step in March 2020. Acquiring a food truck and establishing a spacious outdoor beer garden, the brewery transformed the landscape of the High Country. Today, this expansive beer garden isn't just a place to enjoy refreshing brews - it's a hub of activity, hosting trivia nights, live music, private parties, and serving as a gathering place for both old and new friends.
