Joe's early experience in the industry involved selling life and health insurance, followed by a stint at Allstate Insurance, where he sold various lines of insurance at a booth in Sears. In 1979, he transitioned to an insurance office in Lunenburg and eventually retired from Allstate in 1988. In 1989, Joe became an independent agent and signed on with multiple insurance companies to provide more options to consumers.

The agency's first few years saw Joe enlisting the help of his wife, Sandy, and daughters, Kelly and Shannon, to serve a growing number of clients. Today, the agency continues to provide personal and business insurance to the surrounding communities in MA and NH. With agents boasting over 40 years of experience in both personal and commercial lines of insurance, McCaffrey Insurance Agency is well-equipped to handle all of your insurance needs.
